INTRODUCTION
We are spiritual beings existing in the World of Matter. The common understanding is that this is for our development and for us to achieve the maturity that will enable us to return to spiritual Creation, the Kingdom of God. But this does not give the full picture. Strictly speaking, we are in the Material Spheres to develop and with our maturity bring upliftment and spiritualisation to our spheres of influence subject to the Will of God, thereby bringing the Kingdom of the Father to the Material Spheres.
We are permitted to experience Creation in our daily life, so that through our experiences we may come to recognise the Will of the Creator. These experiences that manifest as joy and sorrow, sickness and health, poverty and wealth permit us to mature spiritually. For us as spiritual beings, maturity lies in recognising the Will of our Creator immanent in everything as the Laws or principles on which Creation runs, and completely adjusting to these Laws.
Unfortunately, many human beings today are taught and encouraged to reject these experiences. This is found amongst all groups of humanity and amongst all religions. In some sections of Christendom for instance, people are taught that the Will of God for them is prosperity and health; that they are entitled to every comfort and even that their sins are washed away once they believe in Jesus and the efficacy of his blood, shed on the cross. Doctrines that do not in any way correspond to the teachings of Jesus. They conveniently forget that the Son of God warned us that unless we recognise and live in the Will of the Father, we cannot be saved. To recognise and live in the Will of God the Father is the purpose of our existence and the importance of the World of Matter for us.
That we could develop contrary to the Will of God is due to spiritual indolence and overdependency on our intellect, a material tool granted for the use of the spirit. The latter shifted the goals of human spiritual development from activities oriented towards the Luminous Heights to activities directed almost exclusively towards Matter. But the world of Matter, which God graciously granted for our development and maturity, by its nature and design, is not eternal, like Spiritual Creation. It follows a cycle ordained in the Will of God, of coming into being, developing, ripening, and decay, only to go into a new cycle. This is seen from the greatest to the simplest things in the World of Matter, including our physical or material bodies. It rests in the Laws that govern Creation and it is in the sense of this cyclical renewal that we talk about a world without end.
We human spirits, coming from above Matter, from an eternal spiritual sphere, need the World of Matter for our maturity but must rise above this eternal cycle in Matter by timely completing our spiritual development. If we cannot achieve sufficient maturity to leave the spheres of Matter to go back home before decay sets in, the development and personality we had achieved up to that point will be dragged through the disintegration and lost. The spiritual personality is separated from consciously experiencing God. This is spiritual death.
The moment of accounting when we must either return to the kingdom of God or be lost is the long-dreaded end of the ages, the point at which the cosmic clock strikes the hour of 12; when the cycle of the earth begins to go into decline and can no longer support development. This critical turning point when judgment also simultaneously sets in represents the last ‘World Turning Point’. This is in keeping with the fact that Turning Points for the human spirits are recurrent events in the World of Matter.
WHAT ARE WORLD TURNING POINTS?
It is important to understand what constitutes a turning point for human spirits experiencing in the World of Matter and why this is the last turning point. Turning points are periods in our development in the World of Matter when we are granted increased knowledge about God and the mechanism of Creation. The adjustment of humanity to the knowledge thus granted determines our maturity and thus our standing before God. They represent definitive stages of human maturity.
At such points, that is, at every turning point, the Creator sends us helpers to lead us unto the next, higher phase of our recognition and maturity. Thus, turning points are defined by an increase in the recognition of the Truth made possible by the sending of guidance from our Creator. What I am trying to say is best put by the Grail Message: ‘It lies within the working of Omniscience that, at very definite periods of maturing in Creation, ever new revelations are given to the human spirits about the working of God… At each Turning-Point the Creator offered the maturing human spirits new revelations unknown to them until then, which were meant to serve as an extension of their knowledge, so that through further recognition their spirits would become capable of swinging themselves upwards…”1.Today we live in the period of the last World Turning Point.
Human beings have been on earth for millions of years as science is just beginning to recognise from Fossil records and sophisticated DNA pattern tests. During the earliest epoch, we were focused on learning to master the animal body, which we took on as a necessary covering that will permit us to exist in Matter. During this phase of development, the spirit was protected in the body and only minimally impacted the world around it, much like children in their yet-to-mature bodies still are today. At that stage, they had only a consciousness of self and they lived mostly by imitative instinct, in harmony with the substantiate nature beings.
Slowly they blossomed forth into self-conscious human beings as the spirit within began to breakthrough in activity. They became conscious that they are spiritual beings, in the World of Matter for their development and to learn to serve the Will of God, who at this stage they can now vaguely sense. This is a major turning point in world events, a world turning point for the spiritual in Matter. The human spirits were guided through this transition by helpers. As happens at every subsequent World turning point, the Creator sent us help to lead us unto the next higher phase of our recognition and maturity. These helpers brought early tidings of higher spheres above Matter. The work of Created beings who were sent to guide humanity in this early phase is documented in the ancient spiritual literature of many groups of humanity.2
The Grail Message tells us “…For this reason, Created Ones were already sent down to this earth primeval ages ago after the spirit-germs in their slow development had already trained the animal bodies chosen for this purpose to become human body forms, something which went hand in hand with becoming spiritually conscious in the physical body. This was unutterably long times before the known glacial age of this earth!’1
Thus, in this early turning point, Created ones3 from the Spiritual realm were sent to bring knowledge about Creation to us – how to relate to Creation and other beings in Creation, linking us with higher substantiate beings. This is something we could never have acquired without spiritual guidance since the substantiate nature beings and imitative instinct alone cannot lead to such spiritual heights. At this stage most of us were still childlike, largely pure, trusting, loyal and faithful. Through this guidance, we learned to recognise and to live in harmony with the higher Substantiate beings that work in Matter, the Lords of the elemental or nature beings.
During this epoch human beings began to diversify in proportion to the extent of their spiritual activity. They began to segregate into homogenous groups. Unfortunately, Spiritual indolence also slowly emerged and became quite marked in some. Development of the spirits in the world of Matter started stalling in different parts and among different groups in proportion to the degree of indolence. They were taking out of Creation but not given spiritual support as a necessary balance. They were no longer leading the Material spheres aright.
To guide human spirits on how to relate more effectively with Matter using the tool already provided in their body for the purpose, the intellect, Lucifer was sent to Subsequent Creation. This was not a turning point because no higher knowledge was necessary. The intellect was a material tool already available for their use. Thus, Lucifer was sent to bring supportive Love in his radiation, to help developing human spirits in Matter with the development and control of the intellect. The failure of Lucifer resulted from his introducing the principle of temptation instead of the supportive Love which was his mandate. The human spirits however were not subject to Lucifer because they are equipped with a free will of their own. Lucifer can only tempt and it is left to the volition of the human spirit whether to obey the Will of God which they had already awakened to, or follow the serpentine sagacity of their blossoming intellect. The fall of man stands on its own and cannot be blamed on Lucifer entirely, as is commonly done.
It was about events happening from the end of this epoch that the Bible recorded as the fall of Man. Lucifer who was sent to bring supportive Love developed a wrong volition and instead introduced the principle of temptation4,5. That the temptation is primarily directed to womanhood was not because woman was weaker but because she was and remains the stronger of the species. Humanity became more estranged from the Light as they began to dally disproportionately with the intellect, wilfully going against the expressed Will of God. Instead of spiritual goals, they focused more on material goals, the plane of activity of the intellect. To Spiritual indolence was added intellectual dominance. Material propensities increased – vanity, greed, envy, and hatred.
The Almighty again intervened by sending more enlightenment, but this time through Prophets and Blessed ones. Subsequent turning points saw the sending of high Prophets and blessed ones. They were sent to guide us back to the Light and to help us overcome the creeping intellectual pre-occupation. These epochs of enlightenment represented further Turning-Points in world events. With each turning point, new spiritual knowledge was anchored for the human spirits. There is no group of viable human spirits in the world to whom a prophet had not been sent. The response of humanity to the help was not always welcoming and this is best documented in the history of the Jews as recorded in their Torah.
The periods for such Cosmic Turning-Points were always connected with the condition of Creation’s state of maturity at the time. In its development according to the Holy Law of God the maturity of Creation was always exactly fulfilled, but owing to their spiritual indolence the human beings in Creation often placed themselves obstructively in the way of these developments! During the dissemination among human beings of the increasing recognition of all God’s Activity in Creation – which was arranged in world epochs – they closed themselves to it almost every time’1.
Nevertheless, the help was not void as nothing that emanates from God ever achieves nothing. Some human spirits, few as they may be, listened, were supported, and achieved spiritual progress. However, spiritual development, centred on these few in the different communities of human beings, had largely stalled. Over time, the available revealed knowledge about our high spiritual goal faded into legends and fables. And the high knowledge about the Holy Grail, the highest aspiration of human spirits, was degraded to legends about human search for material excellence.
As humanity retrogressed, the majority began to regard the substantiate beings we had learnt to relate with as gods, while others turned to demons and phantoms of their own imaginations.
